office space

April 24, 2013

Hello all!

Some of you have been asking to see my workspace and so I recently did a little shoot with Erin Milnik to show you guys. (plus it was a great excuse to clean off the clutter!)

What I love most about my desk is that it is all homemade. I mean, I seriously just put it together on a dime.

The desk top was a fence board that Mr. Moe found in the backyard and painted white. We place it on top of three Closet maid storage units that you can buy from Target in their storage container area. The storage units cost a whopping $15.00 each so we spent around 60.00 bucks for this desk. The white shoe boxes I picked up on sale at Michael’s craft store for $1.50 each…so there you have it folks. When you don’t have much money for furniture…just make it.

 .

Some of my favorite things on my desk are the black hand, wooden shoe and my golden lady paper weight from my friend’s vintage etsy store Experimental Vintage.

 .

The gold reading chairs in the room came from an estate sale that I happened upon one Saturday morning and bought them each for 20 bucks. Score!

 .

Thank you again to the amazing photographer Erin Milnik for these images!

here comes trouble

February 5, 2013

Because of the flurry of happy emotions on the day Jackson was born, I hardly can remember anything that happened very clearly.  I like to think back upon that day and try to piece everything together, often like a bride does when recalling her wedding day.  The fluster of activity and the cloud nine syndrome somehow alters your mental capacity.  They call it love I guess.

 .

My wedding day and Jackson’s birth day feel the same for me.  Happiness is often all that I remember.  Two things that I clearly recall was my mother exclaimed excitedly just minutes after he was born, “He is so strong!  He just lifted his head!” We should have named him Samson right then and there.  And the other was when the midwife did his newborn check and quietly looked into his eyes and said, “He looks like he is going to be  quite the intelligent little man (because he was already trying to focus on her face).  I think you have a smart one here.”  So with those two little attributes combined we could have a little bit of a smart, rambunctious, mischievous little one.  There is already that little naughty sparkle in his eyes!  Oh no, folks…here comes trouble!

Can’t get enough

February 1, 2013

Today Jackson was more fussy than normal….I have to say, when he went down to sleep for the night we all breathed a little sigh. I am pretty sure that he is going through another growth spurt because he is eating like a horse and sleeping like a baby. Now I understand that saying….he took a 3 1/2 hr nap today! While he slept, I used the time to run around the house and do everything that I could  before he woke up again. It was quite a fun challenge.

 .

While I was pregnant I just imaged what it would be like to be a mom….I knew it was going to be wonderful but I felt like it would be a lot more work than joy. There seems to be a prevailing cloud that motherhood is cast under. People warn you when you get pregnant with the classic, “Enjoy your sleep now, you won’t be getting any when that baby comes!” or the “Everything changes when you have a baby, enjoy life now!” And you know what? Don’t listen to them. You will only start fearing motherhood…I mean, who wants to stop enjoying life right?! Listen, motherhood is amazing. It is one of the hardest, most beautifully satisfying thing I have ever done. I just can’t get enough of my little man…(Even saying this after a very fussy day too!)

wedding colors

I love this color scheme! It has to be one of my favorites. Isn’t purple such a rich color?
